Sonic Branding for ThinkVerse: A Case Study in Digital Learning
ThinkVerse is a conceptual eLearning platform developed within Fonetik’s internal benchmarking programme. The platform was designed to explore how sound can support digital learning environments where structure, encouragement, and focus all influence the learner experience.
Establishing the Sonic Direction
The brief centred on a simple objective: develop a sound system that could guide learners through educational content while maintaining a calm and supportive tone.
Using the Fonetik Framework™, the project simulated the early stages of a client engagement. Platform interactions such as onboarding, lesson introductions, quiz feedback, and module completion were mapped to understand where sound could reinforce the experience.
The identity needed had to feel structured and professional. Educational environments demand focus, so the sound design had to remain subtle and purpose-driven. Every asset had to complement the learning journey rather than compete with it.
Three guiding principles shaped the direction of the work: tonal character – soft musical cues with a restrained academic tone; instrumentation palette – staccato guitar patterns, mellow pads, and light vocal textures; and emotional intent – reassurance, concentration, and steady motivation. These parameters formed the creative foundation for the sonic system.
Deliverables: A Sonic System Designed for Learning
The ThinkVerse project produced a set of assets intended to function across learning content, user interfaces, and course materials.
Sonic Logo
The sonic logo is built around a four-note motif (C4–E4–G4–C5). The ascending movement creates a sense of progression, reflecting the act of learning and moving forward through a course. Soft instrumentation and a gentle resolution keep the identity welcoming without introducing unnecessary drama.
Brand Theme
The brand theme expands the logo idea into a longer musical bed built on a loopable C–Am–F–C progression.
A staccato guitar riff provides rhythmic structure, supported by light percussion and warm synth pads. Vocal chop textures introduce subtle movement and give the composition a contemporary EdTech character.
The theme was designed for onboarding videos, lesson introductions, and course promotion content where a consistent musical identity can build familiarity.
UX Cue Library
A small set of functional sounds was developed to support everyday learning interactions:
Module complete – An upward phrase (A4–C#4–E4–A5) signals accomplishment and encourages continued progress.
Lesson start – A short tonal cue (E4–A4–E5) introduces new content with a clear but unobtrusive signal.
Error feedback – A descending gesture (C#4–A4) played on soft piano timbres communicates correction in a calm and neutral way.
Each cue was tested against typical eLearning interaction flows so that it supports the experience without drawing attention away from the lesson material.

Sonic Branding for the EdTech Environment
ThinkVerse illustrates how carefully designed sound can support digital education platforms. In learning environments, tone matters as much as functionality. Audio cues influence focus, motivation, and emotional comfort during extended study sessions.
The ThinkVerse system demonstrates how sonic branding can introduce structure and personality into online education while remaining subtle enough to sit naturally alongside instructional content.
For EdTech companies seeking stronger learner engagement, the project provides a reference model for integrating sound across courses, product interfaces, and educational media.
